The Big Bad Wolf Online Book Sale Returns to Sri Lanka and goes live for eight consecutive days starting from 5 to 21 May.
The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale will feature a wide range of books across all genres, including fiction and non-fiction bestsellers, young adult fiction, as well as an extensive collection of children’s books. They even offer brand new books with a discount as high as 75-95% in order to promote the joys of affordable and accessible reading.
Driven by passion, Andrew Yap and Jaqueline Ng first launched the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale in 2009 as a warehouse sale in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, providing an exciting array of excess books from international distributors. The books’ affordable prices and easy availability proved to be a huge attraction, and in no time, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale turned into a landmark event nationwide.
The second edition of the Online Book Sale was officially announced on 20 April at a press conference held at Sahal, Arcade Independence Square, Colombo. The conference was officiated by Director Pro Read Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd. and Partner Big Bad Wolf Books in Sri Lanka Nishan Wasalathanthri, along with the Co-Founders of Big Bad Wolf Books Jacqueline Ng and Andrew Yap, as well as Partner of Big Bad Wolf Books Sri Lanka Dipak Madhavan – who joined in from Kuala Lumpur via video conference.
Commenting at the start of the conference, Wasalathanthri said: “The World’s Biggest Book Sale returns to Sri Lanka again via online due to the unprecedented challenges brought about by the pandemic as most of the countries including Malaysia, where borders are still closed for travel. Despite these trying times, Big Bad Wolf Books wants to ensure that we continue to serve our loyal customers and fans alike by offering them the option of shopping from the safety and comfort of their homes.”
Adding to this sentiment, Yap stated that they are very driven by their passion for wanting to provide access to quality English books at affordable prices so that everyone in Sri Lanka can benefit from it. “As we return to Sri Lanka shores for the fifth time this year via our second Online Book Sale, we’re indeed excited to be able to reach far more people online and continue on our mission to nurture the reading habit amongst children and adults alike.”
Speaking on the website for the live sale, Ng commented: “We appreciate the customers in Sri Lanka for accommodating us. This year we have worked with a developer to improve the website and will ensure that everything will flow smoothly. We also worked with Sampath Bank to ensure that the payment works with no hitch.”
Madavan also touched on the tracking system for the delivery of the books: “After you hit the buy button, it’s a painful waiting period for the customers. Last year, we received the books ahead of schedule but Sri Lanka went through a second wave and the delivery system was failing.” This time around, they have factored their shipping and processing system and assures customers that they will receive their books on time. He urges customers to make sure that their delivery address is accurate, which will help them out a lot to send out deliveries to the right place.
Everyone loves a good discount, and Big Bad Wolf has exciting news in store. Elaborating on this, Ng stated: “Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is synonymous with its epic discounts.
